Calento
Calento is a full-stack Calendar Intelligence Assistant built to reduce manual scheduling work. It combines a minimal calendar workspace, Google OAuth and two-way sync, public booking flows, AI chat with RAG/function calling, background jobs, email reminders, team collaboration, task management, and production infrastructure.

Problem
Traditional calendar tools still require too many manual actions: checking free time, creating events, resolving conflicts, sending confirmations, and switching between tools. The report frames this as a productivity problem for students, office workers, teams, and professionals who need a faster way to manage time.
Solution
Calento turns calendar management into an assisted workflow: users can manage events visually, sync with Google Calendar, share booking links, ask an AI assistant to query or create schedules, and rely on background queues for reminders and periodic synchronization.

How It Runs
Micro-modular monolith
The backend is organized into domain modules with clear boundaries while keeping deployment simple as one cohesive service.
Background processing
Redis and BullMQ power asynchronous email jobs and periodic Google Calendar sync queues so heavy work does not block the user flow.
Semantic calendar context
PostgreSQL stores relational data while pgvector stores embeddings for event and user context search used by the AI assistant.
Production gateway
Nginx routes frontend and API traffic, HTTPS is configured for calento.space, and Docker Compose keeps service setup reproducible.
